Comments on: i hate macs.

Ah yes, it has begun. Honestly, I don’t really hate macs, and I will quite possibly end up owning one some day. What I hate is the all-too-prevalent snobbish “Mac” attitude (and before you reply, yes there are lots of snobs about lots of things not Mac).

If Christians evangelized as much about their faith as Mac users do about their computers…

(And Josh, you’re right, I did put Apple computers on my “Hot Toys List”, alongside the Nintendo DS that I don’t want, the Xbox 360 I will likely never own, and the Exilim Camera that I’m not going to buy.)

One more thing – I still listen to DC Talk. But I have to say I’m a big Toby Mac fan. Hmm, Toby MAC.

Oh, and by the way – I also don’t hear too many Apple fanboys out there proclaiming their ‘hatred’ of PC’s. I talk up a more enjoyable, easier computing experience when I spread the love.

Some PC guys, like you Andy, really enjoy tinkering with the machines and putting in more memory, a better graphics card, liquid cooling systems, neon lights and turning it into a hovercraft robot that mixes a nice sangria. Whatever floats your boat. Personally, I like not having to think those things because my machine already looks good and just works.

Actually Rob you’ve got that backwards.
You can install Quicktime without installing iTunes – you just have to choose a ‘custom install’ (which most experienced PC users do anyway). And I had iTunes for years on my PC without having an iPod, it is still one of the best pc jukebox softwares out there and the best online music store. Add to it the ability to preview movies, tv shows, buy music and subscribe to podcastsâ€¦ the list goes on and none of this ‘requires’ you to have an iPod. Once you do have an iPod, iTunes becomes even more powerful, driving your media viewing/listening experience.

I admit it – I’m an Apple fanboy, no doubt. But I don’t know very many people out there that speak about their Dell the way that people speak about their Macs.

Apple is more like MS all the time. For example, now you cannot install Quicktime without also installing iTunes. iTunes is virtually useless without an iPod, and I don’t have one. What do they think, that I’m going to rush out an buy an iPod so I can use iTunes which was so graciously installed on my computer when I downloaded Quicktime? Give me a break.

I still listen to DC Talk too.

And yes, you’re right. “we also shouldn’t define who we are by the pile of metal and plastic we own” The commercials are true: “I’m a mac” is about what it has become for so many people!

I hear ya. There are so many advantages to this computer and that computer, and this thing and that thing, but we can’t get so altruistic. Their is no best computer for everyone. We also shouldn’t define who we are by the pile of metal and plastic we own. Good Thoughts.

Although, you can get a great MacBook for $1500 or less………
